Top 10 Most Popular Hotels in Paris (2026)

Paris has one of the richest choices of places to stay anywhere, and the right hotel usually starts with the right neighbourhood. This guide covers the districts, getting in from the airport and what to check before you book. A list of top-rated hotels follows at the end; open a hotel’s page for current prices and availability.

Paris by district

Paris is divided into 20 arrondissements, numbered clockwise in a spiral from the 1st, home of the Louvre, in the centre.

  • 1st (Louvre, Tuileries): walking distance to the museums and the Seine. Central, and usually expensive.
  • 3rd and 4th (Le Marais): historic streets, boutique hotels, cafés and galleries; lively in the evening.
  • 5th and 6th (Latin Quarter, Saint-Germain): around the Sorbonne, the Panthéon and the Luxembourg Gardens; the classic Left Bank.
  • 7th (Eiffel Tower): quiet, wide avenues; rooms with Eiffel Tower views are here.
  • 8th (Champs-Élysées): luxury hotels and shopping around the Arc de Triomphe.
  • 9th and 10th (Opéra, Gare du Nord): department stores and the main railway stations; practical for getting around.
  • 18th (Montmartre): Sacré-Cœur, stepped streets and the artists’ square; relatively affordable compared with the centre.

From the airport

  • Charles de Gaulle (CDG): the RER B suburban train runs to Gare du Nord and Châtelet; the Roissybus goes to Opéra; taxis are also available.
  • Orly (ORY): Metro line 14 has reached Orly since June 2024 and runs straight into the centre; Orlyval with a connection to RER B is another option.

What to check before booking

  1. Distance to a metro station: the Paris metro is dense and frequent; a hotel a few minutes’ walk from a station works even outside the centre.
  2. Room size: hotels in historic buildings are known for small rooms. Check the square metres and whether there is a lift.
  3. Tourist tax: Paris charges a per-person, per-night tourist tax (taxe de séjour). The amount depends on the hotel category and is usually paid at the hotel. Check whether the price includes it.
  4. Breakfast and cancellation: read whether breakfast is included and the free-cancellation deadline before you book.

When to go

Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) balance weather and crowds. July–August is busy, and hotel prices also rise during trade fairs and fashion weeks.
