Day-by-day itinerary

Arrival and a first walk along the Danube
We are met at the airport and transferred to the hotel. After a short break we get to know the Danube embankment around the Parliament Building on foot. The day's stops also include the Great Market Hall and a supermarket to see how everyday shopping works. In the evening goulash and lángos give a first taste of Hungarian cuisine.

Buda, Margaret Island and the river
After breakfast we climb Buda hill and look out over the city from Fisherman's Bastion. We explore the Castle District and the palace area, then stop at the Tomb of Gül Baba. The afternoon is spent in the green spaces of Margaret Island, and in the early evening we take a boat trip on the Danube. The day ends with a wine tasting.

Pest: squares, the opera and statues
Starting from Heroes' Square, we walk along Andrássy Avenue to the Opera House. On the way we see statues of two great names of Hungarian literature, Attila József and Sándor Petőfi. At the Unicum Museum we learn how this herbal liqueur is made. Dobos torte is on the table at the farewell dinner.

Railway stations, a village visit and departure
On the last day we see the city's two historic railway stations, Western and Eastern. Then we visit a village to get a close look at everyday life in the Hungarian countryside, and transfer to the airport in the afternoon.
